Job Description

The ESPD Engineer (or Project Engineer – Elevators) is responsible for ensuring that all technical, civil, electrical, and site-related requirements are fully prepared and aligned before elevator installation begins. The position acts as the key link between the client, contractor, installation team, and engineering department to guarantee that elevator installations are executed efficiently, safely, and according to approved technical standards.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Verify lift shaft dimensions match approved drawings.
• Ensure shaft plumb, alignment, and clearances meet manufacturer requirements.
• Confirm pit depth and overhead height are as per specifications.
• Check for water leakage or moisture in shaft or pit.
• Make sure the shaft is clean, obstruction-free, and dry.
• Verify adequate room size and layout for machine room type lifts.
• Confirm ventilation, light, and access provisions.
• Ensure foundation pads for machine & control panels are completed.
• Provide material entry routes, storage space, and lift access.
• Ensure scaffolding, hoists, and other required access arrangements are available.
• Provide safety compliance: barricading, clear marking, safe pathways.
• Approved GA (General Arrangement) drawings signed by all parties.
• Pit details: water-proofing, ladder, drain pump provisions.
• 3-phase power supply to machine/control room.
• Earthing for elevator system (separate earthing recommended).
• Fire-rated shaft doors (if applicable).
• Smoke/heat detectors near lobby and shaft.
  
  

ESPD engineers must be able to read, review, and validate Drawings

• Coordinate between client, contractor, and installation team.
• Create site readiness reports before installation.
• Conduct kick-off meetings for installation.
• Track material delivery and ensure proper storage.
• Maintain safety compliance at site.
• Update project documentation & installation checklists.
• Perform quality checks at key stages.
• Support testing, commissioning, and handover.
