ERP Project Lead

Key Profile Requirement:

68 years of experience in ERP implementation / functional consulting / project execution, with strong hands-on experience in manufacturing ERP implementations.

The candidate should have strong business process knowledge, hands-on experience in at least one established ERP product, the ability to independently lead customer-facing implementations, and the confidence to support pre-sales through requirement discovery, solution mapping and product demonstrations.

Key Job Responsibilities:

ERP Implementation & Project Ownership

• Take end-to-end ownership of ERP implementation projects from detailed requirement study through go-live and post-go-live stabilization.
• Lead customer workshops, understand current and future business processes, and translate requirements into practical ERP solutions.
• Configure / guide configuration of ERP modules, workflows, approvals, business rules and reports.
• Manage implementation activities, timelines, milestones, risks, dependencies and customer expectations.
• Coordinate functional consultants, technical/development teams and other internal resources required for delivery.
• Identify process gaps and clearly distinguish between standard functionality, configuration and customization.
• Lead UAT, issue resolution, data migration, integrations, user training, go-live and stabilization activities.

Pre-Sales & Solution Consulting

• Participate in customer pre-sales engagements, including customer visits, requirement discovery and business process discussions.
• Understand customer requirements and map them to ERP capabilities and proposed solutions.
• Conduct solution demonstrations and explain how the ERP addresses customer processes and operational requirements.
• Identify product fit, gaps and implementation considerations and communicate them clearly to customers.
• Support solution scope, implementation approach, effort estimates, proposals and other pre-sales deliverables.
• Build customer confidence through strong process understanding, practical recommendations and clear communication.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary functional and implementation contact for assigned customers during project execution.
• Conduct project discussions, status reviews, requirement clarifications and issue-resolution meetings.
• Manage customer expectations and ensure agreed scope, deliverables and milestones are clearly understood.
• Handle functional escalations and coordinate with internal teams for timely resolution.

Team Coordination & Delivery

• Guide and coordinate 1–2 functional / implementation resources working on the project.
• Review implementation deliverables, configuration, documentation, testing progress and customer readiness.
• Maintain requirement notes, process flows, functional specifications, UAT plans and implementation status.
• Ensure effective handover to support / customer success teams after go-live.

Technical Skills Required (In Brief): 

• Hands-on ERP implementation and configuration experience in at least one established ERP platform.
• Strong understanding of ERP workflows, roles, approvals, business rules and functional configuration.
• Good understanding of data migration, data validation, UAT and go-live activities.
• Basic SQL knowledge for data validation, analysis and reporting.
• Understanding of REST APIs / system integrations and coordination with technical teams.
• Working knowledge of project planning, tracking, risk / issue management and implementation documentation.

Functional / Domain skills required (if any):

• Strong understanding of manufacturing business processes including Production, BOM, MRP / planning, Inventory, Procurement, Sales, Quality and related shop-floor processes.
• Deeper hands-on experience in at least two core ERP functional areas, with broad understanding across Procurement, Sales, Inventory, Manufacturing and Finance.
• Hands-on experience in configuring at least one established ERP product such as SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Odoo, Focus ERP, Sage, Oracle NetSuite or equivalent.
• Experience in full-cycle ERP implementations, preferably from requirement study through go-live.
• Strong ability to map customer business processes to ERP functionality and recommend practical solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

CLIENT & COMMUNICATION SKILLS

• Very strong verbal and written communication skills with confidence in customer-facing situations.
• Ability to conduct requirement-gathering workshops and process discussions with business users and management.
• Ability to conduct ERP product demonstrations and explain business processes and solution capabilities clearly.
• Ability to convince customers through process understanding, solution mapping and practical recommendations.
• Strong presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to prepare clear functional specifications, SOPs, solution approaches and project documentation.

Other Preferences (if any):

• Willingness to travel extensively within India and internationally for customer pre-sales, implementations, training and go-live activities.
• Experience working with ERP implementation partners, ERP product companies or system integrators is preferred.
• Experience with customer-facing pre-sales / solution consulting is preferred.
