Role - Engineering Lead(Insurance Domain)

Experience - 8-12yrs About the Role We're hiring an Engineering Lead to guide a team of engineers building a product, the microservices platform at the heart of our insurance business. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people management—you'll set technical direction, drive delivery, ensure compliance and security standards, and grow the engineers on your team while staying close to the code. Based in our Gurgaon office.

Responsibilities

• Set and own the technical vision and roadmap for the platform in partnership with product and business leadership
• Lead architectural decisions across the monorepo: schema design, service boundaries, UI strategy, and testing infrastructure
• Own the platform's deployment and infrastructure strategy: Docker, Docker Compose, CI/CD via GitHub Actions, and hosting on DigitalOcean droplets
• Define the organization's AI/LLM strategy, including responsible use of Claude and OpenAI APIs, model selection, cost governance, and appropriate handling of sensitive data
• Establish security, data-protection, and compliance practices appropriate for an insurance business
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of mid-level and senior engineers, including 1:1s, career development, and performance feedback
• Drive engineering best practices around code quality, testing, observability, and delivery velocity
• Balance technical debt, feature work, and platform investment to meet business goals
• Establish standards for the full stack: TypeScript services, Prisma/PostgreSQL data layer, OpenAPI/Zod contracts, and React frontends
• Partner cross-functionally with product, design, actuarial, claims, and other business teams
• Remain hands-on with critical technical work, prototypes, and high-stakes reviews
• Own team-level planning, estimation, and delivery accountability

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a leadership or management capacity
• Strong full-stack technical background in TypeScript and modern web architectures
• Proven experience leading the design of microservices and scalable platforms
• Experience owning CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Docker Compose), and cloud deployments (DigitalOcean or similar)
• Experience setting direction for AI/LLM integration (Claude, OpenAI) at a product or platform level
• Demonstrated success managing and growing engineering teams
• Solid grasp of database architecture, API contract design, and testing strategy
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Ability to balance hands-on contribution with leadership responsibilities

Nice to Have

• Experience with Bun, Biome, Vite, and modern monorepo tooling
• Background scaling teams and systems in insurance, fintech, or regulated industries
• Familiarity with regulatory and data-protection requirements relevant to financial services in India
• Experience establishing AI/LLM evaluation and governance practices
• Experience defining developer-experience and platform-engineering initiatives
• Track record of establishing E2E and integration testing standards (Playwright, Vitest)
