Engineering Manager

We are looking for an experienced and people-focused Engineering Manager to lead high-performing engineering teams building scalable, reliable, and user-centric products at Pocket FM. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with excellent leadership, execution, and communication skills. You will work closely with product, design, data, and business teams to define strategy, deliver impactful features, and continuously improve engineering excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers and technical leaders.
• Own the planning, execution, and delivery of key engineering initiatives.
• Partner with product and design teams to translate business goals into scalable technical solutions.
• Define technical direction, architecture, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
• Ensure the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of production systems.
• Establish effective development processes, including planning, estimation, reviews, testing, and release management.
• Drive a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, career planning, and feedback sessions.
• Identify and resolve technical and organizational bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on engineering strategy, roadmap planning, and resource allocation.
• Promote automation, observability, quality engineering, and operational excellence.
• Participate in hiring and help build a strong, diverse, and high-performing engineering organization.

Requirements:

• 8-12 years of software engineering experience, including significant experience managing engineering teams.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams of engineers.
• Strong hands-on background in designing and building large-scale, distributed, or consumer-facing systems.
• Experience with modern software development practices, system design, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and microservices.
• Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, performance optimization, and security.
• Experience managing projects from concept to production.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to balance technical depth with people leadership and business priorities.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in consumer internet, media, entertainment, streaming, content, or subscription-based products.
• Experience building highly available systems serving millions of users.
• Familiarity with data platforms, recommendation systems, experimentation, or personalization.
• Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience managing multiple teams or leading cross-functional engineering programs.
• Prior experience in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment.
