Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager at PopClub, you will lead one or more engineering teams responsible for the commerce charter pre-order, including discovery, inventory, catalog, pricing, promotions, cart, checkout, payments, order, and post-order, including supply chain, WMS, logistics, etc. You will work closely with product, design, operations, and other stakeholders to define the roadmap, make architectural decisions, and ensure successful execution. You'll drive technical excellence, execution velocity, and engineering culture across teams.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and grow engineers; build and maintain a high-performing team.
• Define and own architecture and system design for the areas under your teams (could be backend services, frontend/web/mobile, infra, etc. ), ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Own the engineering roadmap, prioritize work, estimate delivery timelines, and ensure that teams deliver reliably and sustainably.
• Champion Agentic SDLC: Use agents in the E2E SDLC. If required, build features yourself fully using the agentic SDLC.
• Drive engineering best practices: code reviews, test coverage, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and incident management.
• Ensure production readiness and system health: uptime, performance, reliability, error rates, etc.
• Collaborate closely with product and design to understand user needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Manage stakeholders from across the organization: business leads, operations, support, marketing, etc., making sure engineering trade-offs are communicated.
• Identify technical debt and architectural weaknesses, and plan for their remediation.
• Stay up to date with relevant technologies and propose improvements in stack, infrastructure, and development process.

Requirements:

• Experience: ~7-9 years of software engineering experience; at least 2+ years of people leadership / engineering management.
• Technical depth: experience with building scalable distributed systems; good understanding of backend and/or frontend/mobile architectures (depending on focus); databases, caching, messaging.
• Reliability and Performance Mindset: you've dealt with high availability, performance optimization, monitoring, observability, and handling production issues.
• Strong coding/designing skills: ability to lead design reviews, make tough technical decisions, and mentor others in best practices.
• Communication and Stakeholder Skills: You can articulate technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences and can manage expectations.
• Ownership and Execution Focus: self-starter; bias for action; disciplined about delivery, testing, and quality.
• Ecommerce background: retail or marketplace across any categories like grocery, fashion, electronics, etc.
• Education: Bachelor's/Master's in CS or a related technical discipline, OR equivalent experience.
