Engineering and Utility Head (Bonthapally, Hyderabad)

Responsibilities Includes:

Engineering & Maintenance

• Lead overall Mechanical and Electrical Engineering & Maintenance activities across the manufacturing facility.
• Ensure high availability, reliability and performance of plant equipment and systems.
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance programs.
• Ensure timely maintenance of reactors, centrifuges, dryers, filters, pumps, compressors, vacuum systems, agitators and other critical process equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance, maintenance KPIs, breakdown trends and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Drive energy optimization, equipment reliability and maintenance cost reduction.

Utilities

• Overall responsibility for critical and non-critical utilities including:
• Chilled Water / Chillers
• Cooling Towers
• Boilers / Thermic Fluid Systems
• Compressed Air
• Nitrogen Systems
• Vacuum Systems
• HVAC
• DM / Purified Water Systems
• ETP / STP and related utility systems
• Ensure reliable and uninterrupted utility supply to manufacturing operations.
• Monitor utility consumption, efficiency and cost optimization.
• Ensure statutory compliance and safe operation of utility systems.

Electrical Engineering

• Lead electrical maintenance and infrastructure activities including HT/LT systems, transformers, DG sets, MCCs, PCCs, electrical distribution and critical power systems.
• Ensure preventive maintenance and statutory compliance of electrical installations.
• Manage power reliability, electrical safety and energy conservation initiatives.

Projects & Capex

• Lead engineering projects, plant modifications, capacity expansion and utility enhancement projects.
• Review engineering specifications, layouts, equipment selection and technical proposals.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure projects are completed within approved timelines, budgets and quality requirements.

GMP / Compliance

• Ensure Engineering and Utilities systems comply with GMP, EHS and regulatory requirements applicable to API manufacturing.
• Provide engineering support for qualification and validation of equipment and utilities.
• Review/approve engineering-related URS, DQ, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ and requalification documents.
• Ensure engineering systems remain in a qualified and compliant state.
• Support QA during regulatory, customer and internal audits.
• Ensure timely closure of engineering-related deviations, CAPAs, change controls and audit observations.

Leadership

• Lead and develop the Engineering, Maintenance and Utilities team.
• Establish department objectives, KPIs and performance monitoring systems.
• Ensure manpower planning, competency development and technical training.
• Drive a culture of reliability, safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering; relevant postgraduate qualification will be an advantage.
• 12+ years of relevant experience, preferably in API/Bulk Drug or Pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Strong hands-on experience in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering & Utilities.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale manufacturing plants and utility systems.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, qualification/validation, EHS and statutory requirements.
• Experience in handling regulatory/customer audits and engineering compliance.
