About this role
Job Summary
Sensor Test Engineer Qualcomm Sensing Hub
Responsibilities This position involves hands on testing for sensors, sensor related features and seamless context exchange between Qualcomm products integrating Qualcomm Sensing Hub. Qualcomm Sensing Hub enables extremely low power context detection and awareness by fusing information from different sensors and radios.
The role is an individual contributor as part of an international sensor test team. Daily tasks will include hands-on testing, verification, and calibration of embedded HW integrating sensors, verification and testing of algorithms fusing sensor and radio data, testing features and communication across devices and development of embedded test applications, automation frameworks, test tools, and automated test cases.
The following defines the main responsibilities:
- Testing Qualcomm Sensing Hub features for Qualcomm products. Test planning, test case development and execution. This includes hands-on testing with various mobile/handheld products both in lab and in the field.
- Developing test automation modules for the overall sensor automation framework using C# and Python.
- Development of embedded test applications, automation frameworks, test tools, and automated test cases.
- Verification and calibration of sensors in embedded HW.
- Testing communication and information sharing between devices embedding Qualcomm Sensing Hub.
- Test case automation and maintenance.
- Triaging issues observed during testing and isolating them into different test framework components, SW modules in embedded target SW or HW itself. Driving the resolution of the observed issues across the sensor and other QCT technology and target teams.
- Supporting test, SW development and system teams in analysis and debugging of observed issues in embedded targets.
- Interacting in a global team environment with various test architecture, power, SW, system, test, and test framework teams.
- Desire to understand in detail the Qualcomm Sensing Hub related SW and HW architectures and embedded SW designs from HLOS all the way down to sensor driver level across various target devices.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Skills/Experience A minimum of 1-4 years of work experience with testing embedded systems and developing automated test cases / automation frameworks for them.
- Proficiency in C and/or C++.
- Prior experience with developing and/or debugging embedded code.
- Exposure and experience on AI tools and applications.
- Prior experience with Android application programming.
- Previous programming experience with Java, Python, etc.
- Detail oriented, thorough, and analytical approach required with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to time-share and prioritize between multiple tasks is crucial.
- Proven team player that can drive bugs into resolutions across multiple global teams.
- Excellent understanding of debugging and isolating issues in embedded devices.
- Basic understanding of different radios (like cellular modem, WiFi, Bluetooth, location), audio and camera features in mobile phone.
- Familiar with oscilloscope and comfortable working with Qualcomm HW protolab to expose necessarily signals for testing and debugging purposes. Capable to validate and debug simple HW reworks exposing interrupt signals etc.
- Good understanding of test methodology and test processes, including requirements collection, test plan development, test execution and error tracking.
- Previous experience with standard Qualcomm test automation framework and tools (Axiom, QXDM, QDSS, Crashscope, Trace32) and Qualcomm DIAG implementation.
- Previous exposure to Sensors (inertial, pressure, magnetic, ambient light, proximity, capacitive, physiological) and associated test equipment beneficial.
- Previous testing experience with Linux Embedded, Linux Android and Windows mobile devices.
- Basic understanding of modem, WiFi, BT, audio, camera and location technologies and related test procedures and equipment.
