Primary Responsibilities: Shift Incharge Sheathing Line
1. JobRole
TheProduction Shift In-Charge is responsible for managing the sheathing productionshift in an Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) manufacturing plant, ensuring productquality, production targets, machine efficiency, manpower utilization, andsafety compliance.
A.Production and Process Control
- Plan and execute shift-wise production as per the production schedule.
- Control process parameters such as extrusion temperature, line speed, screw speed, and cooling conditions.
- Ensure proper sheath thickness, outer diameter, ovality, and uniformity.
- Monitor cable tension, take-up and pay-off systems, and caterpillar operation.
- Minimize material wastage, cable rejection, and production downtime.
B.Technical Knowledge
- Understand PE, HDPE, MDPE, and other sheath material grades used in OFC cable manufacturing.
- Have knowledge of different cable constructions, including:
- Armoured OFC cables
- Unarmoured OFC cables
- Duct, direct-burial, and aerial cable designs, as applicable
- Armoured OFC cables
- Understand extrusion die and tip settings, centring, and sheath adhesion requirements where applicable.
C.Manpower and Shift Management
- Allocate operators and helpers according to production requirements.
- Monitor operator performance, discipline, and adherence to SOPs.
2.Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Polymer, or a related engineering discipline, as per company requirements.
- Practical experience in OFC cable sheathing or cable extrusion.
