About this role
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Skid Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Bangalore. This role will focus on the design and development of modular skid-based systems and e-house solutions, which are critical to Schneider Electric s portfolio in medium-voltage (MV), low-voltage (LV), and energy storage applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in structural engineering, advanced analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring safe, scalable, and high-performance skid solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Skid Structural Design: Design and develop mechanical skid frames and modular platforms for MV/LV switchgear, Transformer skids, Battery energy storage systems (BESS), Multi-technology skids (SWGR + XFMR + LVS).
- Create GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and 3D models. Optimize designs for manufacturing, transportation, and site installation.
- Structural Analysis Engineering: Perform and approve structural calculations for dead, live, and equipment loads; wind, snow, and seismic loads; transportation and lifting conditions; conduct advanced structural simulations and analysis; ensure compliance with international design standards (IS, IEC, AISC, ASCE, Eurocodes); validate structural integrity and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Foundation Interface Engineering: Perform skid-to-foundation interface analysis; define: Base load reactions; anchor bolt configurations; structural support schemes; collaborate with civil and project teams for integrated design solutions.
- Transportation, Lifting Installation: Develop skid designs considering transport constraints and logistics; design lifting lugs, rigging solutions, and installation strategies; ensure structural safety during handling, transport, and site erection.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineering teams, civil structural functions, manufacturing and supply chain teams, project execution teams; participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and risk assessments.
