- Role & responsibilities
- Review the daily queue of new orders and prescriptions that need prior authorization.
- Confirm the patient's active coverage and whether the payer requires authorization for the drug, device, or
- service.
- Pull the supporting documents the payer needs: office notes, lab results, medication history, diagnosis codes
- (ICD-10), and procedure codes (CPT/HCPCS).
- Flag missing documentation to the ordering provider or nurse before submission, so requests do not go out incomplet
- Preferred candidate profile
- GLP-1 and related diabetes and weight medications: Mounjaro, Ozempic, Zepbound.
- Repatha.
- Diabetes devices and supplies: Dexcom continuous glucose monitors and Omnipod insulin pumps.
- Testosterone therapy.
- Humulin (newer to the practice's request mix).
- Other endocrinology requests as the practice's order mix require
