    About this role

    About Us

MEAtec is a fast-growing deep tech company developing AI-driven battery analytics, digital battery passport solutions, second-life decision-making tools, lifecycle management platforms, and edge-to-cloud BMS technologies for electric vehicles and energy storage systems. With a strong focus on sustainability and the circular economy, we collaborate with leading academics, industry partners, and international organizations to advance battery intelligence and next-generation mobility across Europe and beyond.

    Position Overview

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will develop, test and integrate the embedded software infrastructure supporting Battery Management Systems for electric vehicles (EVs) and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain BSW components according to defined software requirements and architecture.
    • Implement and configure microcontroller peripherals and device drivers, including ADC, GPIO, timers, watchdogs, SPI, I²C, UART and CAN.
    • Develop hardware abstraction and interface layers for battery monitoring devices, sensors and control outputs.
    • Implement communication services between the BMS and vehicle controllers, chargers, energy management systems and other connected equipment.
    • Develop diagnostic services, fault reporting, non-volatile data storage and configuration management functions.
    • Support software initialisation, task scheduling, interrupt handling and real-time operating system integration where applicable.
    • Support bootloader integration, firmware update mechanisms and software recovery functions.
    • Integrate BMS application software and MATLAB/Simulink-generated code with BSW interfaces.
    • Perform unit and integration testing, debug hardware–software interface issues, and assess execution time and memory usage.
    • Maintain source code, configuration files, interface documentation and test results using version control and review processes.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related field.
    • 1–3 years of relevant experience in embedded software development; relevant internships and practical university projects will also be considered.
    • Proficiency in C and understanding of pointers, bitwise operations, memory organisation, interrupts and embedded state machines.
    • Hands-on familiarity with microcontrollers, peripheral configuration, development environments and hardware debugging.
    • Understanding of communication interfaces such as CAN, SPI, I²C and UART.
    • Ability to read hardware schematics and device datasheets when developing or debugging software interfaces.
    • Familiarity with Git, software testing and technical documentation.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent written and spoken English at C1 level or higher.

    What We Offer

    • A hands-on, immersive experience in a cutting-edge R&D environment.
    • Mentorship from experienced battery modeling and simulation professionals.
    • Opportunity to work on real-world projects with meaningful outcomes.
    • Flexible work schedule and a collaborative team culture.
    • A chance to be part of a mission-driven company shaping the future of battery intelligence.
