Embedded Firmware Engineer C Programming, ARM Microcontrollers FPGA

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer with strong expertise in Embedded C programming, bare-metal firmware development, ARM-based microcontrollers, hardware interfacing, and embedded system testing. The candidate will be responsible for firmware development, device driver implementation, hardware-software integration, debugging, and validation of embedded hardware platforms.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Implement and test embedded software and firmware for prototype hardware platforms based on microcontrollers.
• Develop bare-metal firmware and device drivers for USB, 1-Wire, NFC, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, memory interfaces, displays, keypads, and fingerprint sensors.
• Work with ARM-based microcontroller development boards and associated IDEs.
• Develop and test communication protocols between hardware and software running on external devices.
• Implement Human-Machine Interface (HMI) functionality for displays, keypads, and fingerprint sensors.
• Implement and test algorithms developed by the CAIR team.
• Perform hardware debugging and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters (DVMs), and other test equipment.
• Work with Xilinx/Intel FPGA-based development boards and HDL-based logic implementation.
• Understand and work with memory interfaces such as QSPI, NOR, NAND, and DDR.
• Implement cryptographic algorithms and security protocols such as TLS on embedded platforms.
• Conduct component testing, functional testing, acceptance testing, and firmware validation.
• Prepare interface control documents, APIs, test reports, and technical documentation.
• Assist in developing in-house test benches and validating custom-fabricated hardware platforms.
• Perform independent development, testing, and troubleshooting activities, including work in environments without internet connectivity.

Required Skills

• Strong programming skills in Embedded C.
• Hands-on experience in bare-metal firmware development.
• Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers and development tools.
• Knowledge of device drivers, interrupts, memory management, and peripheral interfacing.
• Understanding of communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, NFC, and 1-Wire.
• Experience in firmware testing, debugging, and hardware-software integration.
• Proficiency in using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters.
• Knowledge of FPGA development, preferably using Xilinx or Intel platforms.
• Understanding of memory interfaces such as QSPI, NOR, NAND, and DDR.
• Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and TLS security protocols.

Educational Qualification

B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), or a related electronics engineering stream, with first-class marks (minimum 60%) or a CGPA of 7.5/10.
