Electrical Design Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

• Utilize advanced software tools like AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical to create detailed electrical schematics and control diagrams for switchgear systems.
• Develop comprehensive electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control diagrams to support production and streamline the manufacturing process.
• Participate in the selection and specification of switchgear components, including circuit breakers, contactors, transformers, and other electrical components, to ensure optimal performance and compliance with relevant standards.
• Prepare detailed bills of materials (BOM) and wiring diagrams, ensuring accuracy and completeness to facilitate the manufacturing process.
• Work closely with mechanical engineers, technicians, and other team members to integrate electrical systems with mechanical components for cohesive functionality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturing issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies in switchgear design and manufacturing, ensuring designs comply with ANSI, UL, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of design processes, updates, and revisions. Conduct thorough reviews and quality checks on designs to ensure precision and adherence to standards.

Requirements:

Skills, Requirements, and Specifications

• Minimum of 5+ years experience in the electrical distribution industry, including electrical switchgear experience.
• Familiarity with major brands in the industry (Schneider, ABB, Eaton)
• Proficient in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for electrical schematics and design.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and problem-solving.
• Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in design work.
• Solid understanding of ANSI and UL standards relevant to switchgear.
• Education: Bachelor or Masters Electrical Engineering Degree
