Electrical Design Engineer/Manager

Role Overview

The Manager / Senior Engineer – Electrical Design will be responsible for the design, review, coordination, and detailed engineering of electrical systems for Metals & Minerals, Airports, Nuclear Facilities, Industrial Utilities, Material Handling Systems, Manufacturing Plants, and Heavy Industrial Infrastructure Projects. The role involves developing electrical designs from concept through detailed engineering and construction support stages, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, optimizing system reliability, safety, and energy efficiency, and coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams within BIM-enabled project environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review electrical design documents including DBRs, BoDs, specifications, and engineering philosophies.
• Perform load calculations, power balance studies, equipment sizing, cable sizing, and power system analysis.
• Design HV/MV/LV distribution systems, substations, switchgear, MCCs, DG sets, UPS systems, grounding, lightning protection, and lighting systems.
• Prepare and review SLDs, schematics, layouts, protection diagrams, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Execute electrical studies using ETAP and other design tools, including short-circuit, load flow, and protection coordination studies.
• Design and support electrical systems for Metals & Minerals, Airports, Nuclear Facilities, Industrial Utilities, Material Handling Systems, and Manufacturing/Process Plants.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Process, Mechanical, Piping, I&C, Civil, Structural, HVAC, Fire Protection, and BIM.
• Support projects through Concept, FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning stages.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, IS, NFPA, airport, nuclear, and client-specific standards.
• Drive value engineering, energy optimization, reliability improvement, and cost-effective design solutions.

Competencies

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles for industrial, infrastructure, and utility projects.
• Experience in electrical systems for Metals & Minerals, Airports, Nuclear Facilities, Industrial Utilities, Material Handling Systems, Manufacturing Plants, or Large EPC Projects.
• Proficiency in ETAP, DIALux, AutoCAD, and other electrical design tools.
• Working knowledge of Revit MEP and BIM-based design workflows.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, protection systems, grounding, lighting design, and industrial electrical networks.
• Familiarity with airport electrical systems, utility infrastructure, and critical power systems.
• Exposure to nuclear project engineering standards and safety requirements will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within defined timelines.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

• 7–14 years of experience in Electrical Design and Detailed Engineering for Metals & Minerals Projects, Airports, Nuclear Facilities, Industrial Utilities, Material Handling Systems, Manufacturing Plants, Process Industries, Power Plants, Water Infrastructure, or Large EPC Projects.
• Experience in multidisciplinary engineering and BIM-enabled project environments.
• Exposure to FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement Support, Construction Support, and Commissioning activities will be preferred.
