Job Description Edge Device Installation Engineer
Position
Edge Device Installation Engineer Electrical Panel & IoT
Experience
13 Years in electrical panel installation, industrial automation, instrumentation, or IoT device installation.
Job Overview
We are looking for an Edge Device Installation Engineer responsible for installing, wiring, configuring, testing, and commissioning industrial IoT edge devices inside electrical control panels and at manufacturing sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Install Industrial IoT Edge Devices/Gateways inside electrical panels.
- Perform electrical wiring, termination, and cable dressing.
- Interface edge devices with energy meters, sensors, PLCs, VFDs, protection relays, and other industrial equipment.
- Work with RS485 / Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Ethernet, and digital/analog signals.
- Configure communication parameters such as Baud Rate, Slave ID, Parity, IP Address, and TCP/IP settings.
- Verify communication between field devices, edge gateway, and cloud/server platform.
- Conduct continuity, voltage, polarity, and communication testing.
- Troubleshoot wiring, communication, and device connectivity issues.
- Support panel modification and installation of MCBs, terminal blocks, SMPS, relays, and communication components where required.
- Prepare installation documentation, wiring details, device lists, and commissioning reports.
- Coordinate with customers, electrical contractors, and the software/IoT team during commissioning.
- Travel to customer manufacturing plants for site survey, installation, testing, and commissioning.
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of electrical control panels and industrial wiring.
- Good understanding of AC/DC electrical systems.
- Knowledge of RS485 and Modbus communication.
- Basic knowledge of Ethernet and IP networking.
- Experience with multi-meter and electrical testing tools.
- Understanding of electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of PLC/SCADA/IoT systems is an advantage.
- Knowledge of industrial sensors and energy meters is an advantage.
Educational Qualification
Diploma / ITI / BE / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related field.
Required Soft Skills
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently at customer sites.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel to industrial/manufacturing sites.
- Safety-conscious and disciplined working approach.
