About this role
We're looking for a highly creative, execution-focused DOP/Cinematographer and Editor; someone who sits at the intersection of filmmaking, content creation, and advertising. You'll bring strong hands-on cinematography and editing skills and a genuine passion for visual storytelling, taking our brand films, reels, and cinematic content from concept to a finished, ready-to-post cut, no handoff, no waiting on someone else's timeline. If you're passionate about filmmaking, storytelling, and seeing a project through to the end, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Long-form cinematic episodes for the flagship series.
- Brand films, narrative-led.
- Reels and short-form cuts from or shot for social.
- BTS and process content behind the making.
- Occasion- and moment-driven content, quick, and culturally rooted.
- Pre-production location scout, shot list, and lighting plan.
- On-set direction of non-actor talent, natural performance.
- Camera operation: handheld, static, gimbal.
- Lighting setup: available light + supplementary.
- Post-production and edit: cut, grade, and sound your own footage from selects to final.
The core requirements for the job include the following:
Camera and Technical:
- Camera: You shoot on whatever you shoot on; what matters is that you understand it completely (mirrorless, cinema line, DSLR; all is fine).
- Lenses: A preference for primes and an understanding of how focal length affects emotion.
- Movement: Handheld, stabilizer, or static; you choose based on what the scene needs.
- Exposure: Comfortable in mixed light, low light, and unpredictable outdoor conditions.
- Audio: Adept with on-location sound systems; boom mics, wireless LAVs, recorders, and how to engineer the sound we need for the result.
Visual and Creative:
- Composition: a strong instinct for the frame, what's in it, what's left out, and why.
- Lighting: lead by natural light first; know how to supplement without making it look supplemented.
- Color: shoot with the grade in mind, aware of log profiles and what they give you later.
- Direction: can get real, unperformed moments from people who have never been on camera.
- Music sync: understands how a shot must serve a lyric or land on a beat.
- Location: at home in real Indian spaces - cafes, restaurants, dhabas, streets, markets, and public transport.
Post-Production and Edit:
- Editing software: fluent in Premiere Pro / DaVinci Resolve (or equivalent).
- Grading: comfortable color grading your own footage.
- Sound: basic sound design and mixing - clean dialogue, music sync, and levels that don't need a separate pass.
- Ownership: comfortable taking a project from raw card to final export, start to finish.
Equipment:
- We are not prescriptive about what you must work with. If you have a kit that gets the job done and a reel to prove it, that is what matters. A rough idea of what a shoot at Momentum typically needs:
- Camera: Whatever system you work on (mirrorless, cinema line, DSLR).
- Lenses: At least a couple of primes you trust; a Zoom is fine as a backup.
- Stabilizer: Something to give you smooth movement when the shot needs it (gimbal, shoulder rig, or similar).
- Lighting: Basic supplementary kit: a portable LED, a reflector, and some diffusion.
- Sound: Basic on-location audio kit: a shotgun or LAV mic and a recorder.
- Editing: A working edit setup laptop/workstation with Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, and reliable storage/backup for footage.
