Job Summary: The Deputy Manager (Feedstock Procurement & Supply) will be a critical member of the team responsible for ensuring a consistent, cost-effective, and sustainable supply of diverse feedstock materials for Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants, with a primary focus on the North India region. This role involves comprehensive assessment of feedstock availability, strategic engagement and onboarding of aggregators, skilled negotiation of procurement costs, and meticulous management of the supply chain to guarantee uninterrupted plant operations. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the economic viability and environmental sustainability goals of the CBG projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct in-depth assessments and feasibility studies to identify and evaluate the availability, quantity, quality, and seasonality of various types of biomass feedstock (e.g., agricultural residue, pressmud, municipal solid waste, industrial waste) suitable for CBG production across North India.
    • Develop and execute strategies for identifying, contacting, and onboarding a robust network of feedstock aggregators, farmers, and suppliers in the designated North India region.
    • Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with feedstock suppliers and aggregators, fostering trust and ensuring reliable supply channels.
    • Lead negotiations on feedstock procurement costs, terms, and conditions to secure competitive pricing and favorable supply agreements, optimizing cost-efficiency without compromising quality or sustainability.
    • Develop and manage procurement contracts, ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and company standards.
    • Implement robust supply chain management practices to ensure the sustainable and timely availability of feedstock, minimizing supply disruptions and managing inventory levels effectively.
    • Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and policy changes related to biomass feedstock and renewable energy, adapting procurement strategies accordingly.
    • Collaborate closely with CBG plant operations teams to understand their feedstock requirements, quality specifications, and delivery schedules.
    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with feedstock supply, including seasonality, weather impacts, transportation challenges, and quality variations.
    • Prepare detailed reports on feedstock availability, procurement costs, supplier performance, and supply chain efficiency for management review.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainable sourcing policies and practices, aligning with environmental and social responsibility goals.
    • Potentially supervise and mentor junior team members or field staff involved in feedstock collection and logistics.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelors degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field. A Masters degree (e.g., MBA, M.Tech) or specialized certifications in supply chain/procurement are a plus.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain management, business development, or a similar role, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or deputy management capacity. Proven experience in biomass procurement, agricultural commodity sourcing, or feedstock management for bioenergy/CBG plants is highly preferred. Experience working in the North India agricultural sector is a significant advantage.
    • Certifications: Certifications in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM), Project Management (e.g., PMP), or relevant agricultural procurement standards are desirable.

    Required Skills:

    • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of various biomass feedstock types, their characteristics, and suitability for CBG production.
    • Strong understanding of agricultural practices, crop cycles, and residue generation in North India.
    • Proven expertise in procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
    • Proficiency in supply chain logistics, inventory management, and demand forecasting.
    • Excellent financial modeling and cost analysis skills for procurement optimization.
    • Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and sustainability standards in feedstock sourcing.
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting software.
    • Managerial & Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders (farmers, aggregators, internal teams).
    • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking to identify and capitalize on feedstock opportunities.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in managing supply chain complexities.
    • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to ethical procurement practices.
    • Fluency in Hindi and English is often preferred for regional interaction in North India.
