About this role
We are seeking experienced academic and research professionals to serve as Dissertation Chairs supporting doctoral learners throughout their dissertation journey.
The Dissertation Chair will provide structured academic and research guidance, help learners maintain scholarly standards, and support them through research development, review, and dissertation completion. Each Chair will supervise approximately 8-10 doctoral learners, with 12 hours of dedicated supervision allocated per learner. Dissertation Chair Brief & Resp
Key Responsibilities
Research & Scientific Supervision
- Guide learners in selecting original, relevant, and meaningful research topics
- Provide academic guidance throughout the dissertation process
- Ensure dissertations demonstrate appropriate rigor, coherence, and clarity Dissertation Chair Brief & Resp
Methodological Oversight
- Advise learners on appropriate research methodologies
- Ensure research methodology aligns with research objectives
- Provide guidance on data analysis, interpretation of findings, and integration with existing literature Dissertation Chair Brief & Resp
Dissertation Review & Feedback
- Review dissertation drafts at different stages
- Provide detailed, actionable feedback

Research Ethics & Integrity
- Guide learners on appropriate research ethics and required approvals
- Support responsible data handling and confidentiality

Defense Preparation
- Help learners prepare for dissertation defense sessions
- Support presentation preparation and anticipation of committee questions
- Serve as a liaison between learners and the dissertation committee Dissertation Chair Brief & Resp
Academic & Administrative Support
- Guide learners on institutional submission procedures
- Review formatting, citations, and dissertation structure for compliance with institutional requirements
- Maintain relevant approval and milestone documentation

Progress Monitoring & Collaboration
- Track learner progress and provide structured guidance
- Direct learners toward relevant academic resources and research tools
- Collaborate with Research Guides to maintain alignment on methodology, topic refinement, and learner progress Dissertation Chair Brief & Resp
Engagement Structure
- Role: Dissertation Chair
- Learner Allocation: Approximately 8-10 learners per Chair
- Supervision: 12 dedicated hours per learner
