Disc RO Operator

Disc RO Operator - JD:

To operate and monitor the Disc RO (Disc Tube/Disc Membrane Reverse Osmosis) system safely and efficiently, ensuring continuous production of treated/recovered water as per required quality standards, while maintaining equipment performance and minimizing water, chemical and energy losses.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Operation

• Operate Disc RO system as per approved SOP and operating parameters.
  
• Check feed water availability, pressure, flow and quality before starting the system.
  
• Start and stop high-pressure pumps, feed pumps and associated equipment as per SOP.
  
• Monitor RO feed, permeate and reject flow continuously.
  
• Maintain required operating pressure, flow, recovery and membrane performance.
  
• Ensure proper functioning of valves, pumps, pressure gauges, flow meters and instruments.
  
• Monitor permeate quality through conductivity/TDS checks.
  

B. Membrane & System Monitoring

• Monitor membrane differential pressure and system performance.
  
• Identify abnormal pressure increase, reduced permeate flow, increased conductivity or excessive reject flow.
  
• Carry out membrane flushing and cleaning as per approved procedure.
  
• Support CIP/chemical cleaning activities as instructed.
  
• Maintain proper chemical dosing for antiscalant, pH adjustment and other chemicals, where applicable.
  
• Prevent membrane damage due to scaling, fouling, high pressure or improper chemical dosing.
  

C. Water Quality & Process Control

• Check feed, permeate and reject water parameters at defined intervals.
  
• Maintain required permeate quality as per plant specification.
  
• Record conductivity, pH, pressure, flow and other specified parameters.
  
• Immediately report any deviation in water quality to the supervisor.
  

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  
• 2 4 years of experience in RO plant operation, wastewater treatment, or water recovery systems.
  
• Experience in Disc Tube RO (DTRO) systems will be preferred.
  

• Knowledge of Disc RO system operation, start-up, and shutdown procedures.
  
• Understanding of water quality parameters such as TDS, conductivity, and pH.
  
• Basic knowledge of membrane cleaning, flushing, and CIP procedures.
  
• Knowledge of chemical dosing, including antiscalant and pH adjustment.
  
• Ability to monitor pressure, flow, differential pressure, and permeate quality.
  
• Basic troubleshooting skills for pumps, valves, and RO system abnormalities.
  

• Ability to follow SOPs, safety procedures, and chemical handling guidelines.
  
• Maintain daily operating logs and water quality records.
  
• Willingness to work in shifts, if required.
  
• Good observation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
