Director, Medical Affairs Oncology, Strategic Evidence & Collaborations (SEC)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Medical Affairs Oncology, Strategic Evidence & Collaborations (SEC) based in the United States.

This senior Medical Affairs role will shape evidence-generation strategies and scientific engagement across a broad oncology portfolio. You will help translate emerging clinical evidence, healthcare insights, and stakeholder needs into actionable U.S. Medical Affairs strategies. The role works across internal functions and external organizations, including oncology societies, cooperative groups, research partners, and healthcare professionals. You will contribute to strategic planning, congress strategy, evidence generation, publications, and collaborative research initiatives. Success requires strong scientific credibility combined with strategic thinking, cross-functional influence, and excellent execution. The environment is highly collaborative, fast-paced, and globally connected, with substantial autonomy and visibility across Medical Affairs. The role offers an opportunity to influence how oncology evidence is generated, communicated, and applied to improve patient care.

Accountabilities: Co-develop U.S. Medical Affairs strategies and congress plans in partnership with Medical Affairs leadership, Congress Center of Excellence teams, and field-based medical organizations.

Establish and execute evidence-generation strategies across oncology tumor types, collaborating with cooperative groups, NCI/CTEP, research organizations, and other external partners.

Provide strategic input into global Integrated Strategic Plans and U.S. Plans of Action, ensuring U.S. healthcare and stakeholder perspectives are incorporated.

Develop strategies and implementation plans addressing medical education, research, insights, and evidence-generation needs across the oncology portfolio.

Serve as a scientific and strategic thought partner to oncology Medical Affairs teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

Contribute to strategic initiatives involving community oncology and other key healthcare stakeholder groups.

Support U.S. oncology society engagement, scientific meetings, advisory boards, and other opportunities to engage healthcare professionals and relevant stakeholders.

Prepare and deliver scientific presentations, including internal materials, external advisory boards, congress presentations, and other scientific communications.

Provide medical and scientific guidance to colleagues, including field-based Medical Science Liaisons, particularly around medical education, grants, and collaborative research.

Collaborate with Medical Affairs Research and Clinical R&D on investigator-sponsored and collaborative research initiatives.

Review and provide strategic input on research proposals, abstracts, manuscripts, posters, and other scientific outputs resulting from U.S. research collaborations.

Support disease-specific publication strategies and contribute to the development of high-quality scientific content.

Provide, when appropriate, accurate, balanced clinical and scientific information to healthcare professionals in accordance with applicable promotional, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Participate in editorial review of scientific materials to ensure accuracy, strategic alignment, and appropriate scientific standards.

Collaborate effectively with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Market Access, Commercial Strategy, Scientific Communications, Public Affairs, Patient Engagement, Legal, and other functions.

Represent the organization at key scientific meetings and provide scientific leadership across relevant external engagements.

Contribute to additional Medical Affairs strategic and tactical initiatives as required, while maintaining a strong focus on scientific excellence, compliance, and patient impact.

Requirements

Advanced medical or scientific degree such as an MD, PhD, or PharmD with 8+ years of Medical Affairs or comparable industry experience , or a MA/MS with 10+ years , or a BA/BS with 12+ years of relevant experience.

10+ years of Medical Affairs or closely related experience is preferred.

Demonstrated professional experience in oncology , with strong knowledge of oncology therapies, clinical development, and the broader treatment landscape.

Strong understanding of evidence generation, clinical research, Medical Affairs strategy, scientific communications, and external stakeholder engagement.

Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans and translate them into practical, measurable work plans and execution priorities.

Experience developing and reviewing scientific abstracts, manuscripts, posters, presentations, and other scientific communications.

Experience presenting scientific information to healthcare professionals, internal stakeholders, advisory boards, or at scientific meetings.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret study data and publications and identify meaningful insights.

Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.

Strong organizational and project-management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and consistently meet deadlines.

Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and influence stakeholders in a complex, matrixed organization.

Ability to operate with significant autonomy, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of strategic initiatives.

Thorough understanding of applicable regulatory and legal requirements for Medical Affairs activities; familiarity with FDA regulations, ICH guidelines, and GCP is preferred.

High attention to detail and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Willingness and ability to travel more than 50% of the time , including domestic and international travel, as well as periodic headquarters meetings.

Benefits

Base salary range of $221,000–$286,000 USD per year for most U.S. locations.

Base salary range of $243,100–$314,600 USD per year for Bay Area locations.

Actual compensation varies based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

Potential eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus.

Potential eligibility for discretionary stock-based long-term incentives, depending on role eligibility.
