Preferred Qualifications
The Digital Infrastructure & Reliability organization is seeking an accomplished engineering and IT leader to serve as Director of Infrastructure Engineering.
This role blends strategic leadership, deep cross-domain technical competency, platform engineering modernization, and organizational stewardship for our APAC employees. As a core engineering director, you will drive modern platform engineering practices and provide technical direction across multi-cloud (AWS and Azure) and on-premise platforms, network engineering, Linux and Windows engineering, and SRE support for a variety of internal services.
Simultaneously, you will serve as the site lead for all India-based team members across the Infrastructure and Security organization, including those outside your direct reporting hierarchy. You will champion site culture, foster cross-functional alignment, ensure operational continuity, and act as a pivotal regional escalation point for our internal stakeholders in product, manufacturing, and customer support organizations within the APAC region.
Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership and Platform Modernization
- Broad-Spectrum Technical Competency: Proven ability to engage in architectural design and technical troubleshooting across a broad variety of engineering practices, including network engineering, systems engineering with Windows and Linux stacks, cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, and Azure management, and on-premise hypervisor ecosystems.
- Automation First Mindset: Advocate and drive adoption of automation practices to eliminate manual configuration drift and increase our delivery velocity. Use automation to build robust patching and infrastructure provisioning practices across network, computer, and cloud domains.
- Core IT Services: Maintain comprehensive technical understanding of enterprise and hybrid data center and office services, including networks, core IT services (DNS, DHCP, PKI), perimeter security, routing/switching, and technical service suites and capabilities.
- Platform as a Product: Support infrastructure teams focused on cloud and on-premise infrastructure. Support sustainable engineering practices, including systematic intake, driving infrastructure management practices, and modern configuration management.
2. Regional Escalation Authority
- Site Stewardship: Serve as the senior site leader for our Hyderabad office, cultivating an inclusive, high-performance human-first culture, representing local employees to leadership, and driving community and cross-team engagement.
- Matrixed Leadership: Provide mentorship and operational guidance for India-based teams and employees who report into management teams across the organization.
- Cross-Functional Bridge: Act as the primary operational escalation point for mission-critical incidents and provide clean hand offs between global teams. Support coordination between teams within the broader Infrastructure and Reliability organization.
- Incident Management: Partner closely with global Service Desk, Major Incident Management, and global engineering teams to ensure rapid incident triage, proactive communication, and robust executive engagement to build system and organizational trust.
3. Strategic Leadership and Talent Management
- Talent Development: Mentor, develop, and support technical teams, driving a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Global Alignment: Collaborate with global counterparts across Infrastructure, Security, Identity, and Architecture to ensure unified roadmaps and seamless follow-the-sun operations.
- Data Driven Decision Making: Define KPIs and metrics to measure operational performance and developer productivity.
- AI Adoption: Help understand use cases and drive AI adoption across the organization. Use storytelling practices to highlight successes and drive organizational decisions for AI use and future state architecture.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive experience in technology infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud architecture, or platform operations, with at least 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles (Director or Senior Manager).
- At least 2 years of experience functioning as a Site Lead or senior leader helping support multiple teams and coordinating with US based leadership.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing senior executives, cross-functional leaders, and engineers alike without requiring direct line authority.
- Proven track record overseeing large-scale cloud environments and physical data centers in complex enterprise environments.
- Expertise in Agile methodologies and driving team cultures through iterative improvement and technical excellence.
- Expertise in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible), cloud-native operations, and hybrid networking.
- Deep understanding of developer platforms, including source control (GitHub, GitLab, Perforce, ADO), artifact repositories, CI/CD frameworks, and observability stacks.
- Strong grasp of DevOps principles, ITIL, platform engineering, and infrastructure automation practices.
- Strong foundational expertise in both Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows Server operating systems, as well as core networking protocols, firewall concepts, and load-balancing principles.
- Demonstrable poise when managing high-severity operational outages, security vulnerabilities, or regional business continuity challenges.
- Experience automating away toil, running blameless post-mortems, and shifting from reactive firefighting to proactive observability and self-healing infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: Advanced industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or ITIL v3/v4 Managing Professional.
- Hands-on familiarity with ServiceNow, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Jira, and enterprise observability suites such as LogicMonitor and DataDog.
- Familiarity with F5 technologies, especially BIG-IP and XC platforms.
