Director Engineering

About the Role

We are looking for a Director of Engineering Backend to lead backend engineering strategy, architecture, and execution. The role involves building scalable, reliable systems, developing high-performing teams, and aligning engineering initiatives with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Define backend engineering strategy, architecture, and technology roadmap.
• Design and scale high-performance, secure, and highly available backend systems.
• Lead API development, microservices, distributed systems, databases, and event-driven architectures.
• Drive engineering best practices, code quality, system reliability, and performance optimization.
• Build, mentor, and scale engineering teams and technical leaders.
• Partner with Product, DevOps, Security, and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.
• Manage technical debt, engineering efficiency, and infrastructure scalability.
• Establish engineering metrics and ensure predictable, high-quality delivery.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership.
• Strong expertise in backend architecture, system design, distributed systems, and microservices.
• Proficiency in technologies such as Java, Go, Python, Node.js, or similar.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, messaging systems, and cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring, and production operations.
• Proven track record of scaling systems, leading teams, and delivering complex engineering initiatives.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
