Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified Chartered Accountant for the Direct Tax Department with hands-on experience in direct tax advisory, assessments, and search & seizure related matters under the Income-tax Act, 1961. The candidate will be responsible for handling tax compliance, representation before tax authorities, and managing proceedings including search, survey, reassessment, and other matters.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assessment and Litigation

• Drafting submissions, replies, objections, and legal representations before:
• Assessing Officer (AO)
• Faceless Assessment Units
• Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals)
• Managing scrutiny assessments, reassessment proceedings, penalty proceedings, and rectification matters.
• Conducting legal research on tax issues and preparing technical opinions.

2. Search & Seizure / Survey Matters

• Handling cases relating to search and seizure proceedings under Sections 132, 132A, and survey under Section 133A.
• Assisting in post-search assessments, block assessments, and centralized assessment proceedings.
• Analysis of seized documents, digital evidence, appraisal reports, and reconciliation of seized materials with books of account.
• Coordination during search operations and assistance in statement analysis recorded under tax proceedings.

3. Advisory & Representation

• Advising clients on tax structuring, implications of transactions, and dispute mitigation strategies.
• Liaising with tax authorities and attending hearings.

4. Documentation & Internal Coordination

• Maintaining case files, tax records, and litigation trackers.
• Coordinating with internal teams and clients for information gathering and case strategy.
