Digital Forensics R&D Trainee

Role Description:

• We are seeking skilled and motivated candidates to contribute to the development of Digital Forensics Platforms, Applications, Tools and Services.
• The role involves forensic data acquisition, evidence processing, file-system and database analysis, digital artifact identification, forensic tool development, automation, testing, validation, research and technical documentation. Candidates will work with technical and forensic teams on developing, analyzing, troubleshooting and validating solutions for digital forensic investigations and cybersecurity analysis.
• This position provides practical exposure to Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, Software Development, Digital Evidence Analysis, Forensic Tool Development, Automation, R&D and Forensic Service Delivery.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop and maintain robust digital forensics applications using Python, C#, C/C++, Java and Shell Scripting.

2. Conduct thorough testing to ensure the quality and reliability of digital forensics applications.

3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate digital forensics applications with existing systems and provide detailed documentation.

4. Stay up-to-date on the latest digital forensics technologies and methodologies, including advanced data parsing techniques.

5. Provide technical support to clients, troubleshoot issues and address inquiries promptly.

6. Use various libraries to decode database contents and implement machine learning techniques to automate forensic processes.

7. Analyze data storage methods used in smart devices, both in cloud and offline environments and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.

8. Read, interpret, and analyze various file systems, including FAT/exFAT, NTFS/NTFS5, ReFS/ReFS2+ (Windows), HFS/HFS+ and APFS (macOS), UFS1/UFS2 with little- and big-endian variants (FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD/Solaris) and Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 and XFS (Linux), to identify, extract, and analyze relevant digital forensic data and artifacts.

9. Explore and implement advanced methods and technologies used in digital devices, staying informed about new advancements in data storage, encryption and forensic analysis techniques.

Skills Required:

A. Essential

• Strong programming skills in Python, C#, C++, Java and Shell scripting.
• Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Understanding of network protocols and basic network forensic concepts.
• Ability to conduct research and learn new forensic tools and methodologies as needed.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

B. Desired

• Knowledge of IoT forensics and methodologies for handling IoT devices.
• Strong understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in forensics.
• Commitment to learning various areas of cyber forensics such as storage, mobile devices, network forensics, memory forensics, and other core disciplines.
• Proficiency in additional programming languages such as Java or Rust, etc.
