About this role
The DevOps Developer position exists to design, build, and maintain the software delivery infrastructure and toolchain that enables company's engineering teams to release high-quality products reliably and efficiently. The incumbent will take ownership of installer engineering, automated deployment pipelines, .NET build systems, configuration management using Ansible, and internal developer. This position requires a blend of strong software development skills and deep operational know-how, with the ability to work collaboratively across US and India (BLR) teams to continuously improve the engineering platform.
Primary Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Windows Installer packages (WiX, InstallShield, or equivalent) for software products, ensuring clean install, upgrade, and uninstall paths across all supported environments.
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) for .NET applications, including automated build, test, packaging, and release workflows across development, QA, staging, and production environments.
- Author and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles to automate server provisioning, configuration management, application deployment, and environment consistency across Windows and Linux hosts in the infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain internal developer tools, scripts, and utilities (PowerShell, Python, Bash) that improve team productivity, reduce manual toil, and standardize processes across the engineering organization.
- Partner with development teams to integrate unit, integration, and smoke test suites into the build pipeline; enforce quality gates that prevent regressions from reaching higher environments.
- Manage and evolve the build and release environment, including agent pools, build servers, artifact repositories, and NuGet/npm feeds, ensuring availability and performance.
- Lead by example on AI-assisted development practices using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot as a daily workflow multiplier for scripting, pipeline authoring, and documentation; coach teammates on effective AI-augmented DevOps workflows.
- Maintain and improve source control hygiene in Azure Git branch strategy, pull request policies, merge gates, and repository access controls across all product codebases.
- Diagnose and resolve build failures, deployment issues, and environment-specific defects promptly; document root cause and implement preventive measures.
- Collaborate with the QA team to manage test environment provisioning, data seeding, and environment refresh cycles, ensuring environments are available and representative of production.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all pipeline configurations, installer build processes, Ansible playbooks, and internal tools; keep runbooks current so processes are reproducible without tribal knowledge.
- Stay current with emerging DevOps practices, tooling, and .NET ecosystem changes; evaluate and introduce improvements that increase delivery speed, reliability, and security posture.
