About this role
About Dodo Payments Dodo Payments is the billing and payments platform for AI-first companies. From credit-based billing and usage metering to subscriptions and global payments, we give AI and SaaS companies everything they need to monetize without building billing infrastructure. As a global Merchant of Record, we enable payments across 190+ countries, 80+ currencies, and 40+ payment methods. We're trusted by 50,000+ builders and founders worldwide and backed by leading global investors.
About The Role We're looking for a Developer Relations Engineer to be the bridge between Dodo Payments and the developers who build on us. Our product is our API, and the developer experience is the product experience. You'll write the code samples, build the integrations, answer the hard questions, and turn developer feedback into product improvements. You'll spend your time equally between writing (docs, guides, sample apps) and engaging (community, support escalations, developer conversations), making it dramatically easier for an engineer to go from signup to first successful payment. This is a hands-on, technical role for someone who loves both shipping code and helping others ship.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain sample apps, starter templates, and reference integrations across popular languages and frameworks
- Write and improve technical content: quickstarts, API guides, tutorials, SDK documentation, and webhook recipes
- Own the developer onboarding journey and relentlessly reduce time-to-first-integration
- Be the technical voice in our developer community (Discord, GitHub, forums), answering questions and unblocking builders
- Triage and reproduce developer-reported issues, then partner with engineering to get them fixed
- Collect and synthesize developer feedback into clear, prioritized signals for product and engineering
- Create demos, technical blog posts, and occasional talks or workshops that show developers what's possible
- Dogfood our APIs, SDKs, and docs, and be the first to catch friction before customers do
What We're Looking For
- 2-5 years of experience in developer relations, developer advocacy, software engineering, solutions engineering, or a similar hands-on technical role
- Genuine engineering ability: you can build a working integration against an API and read others' code comfortably
- Strong written communication; you can explain a technical concept clearly and make a quickstart that actually works
- Comfort with at least one of JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar, and the ability to pick up others
- Familiarity with REST APIs, webhooks, SDKs, and authentication patterns
- Empathy for developers and the patience to meet them where they are
- Bias for action and comfort with the ambiguity and pace of an early-stage startup
Nice to Have
- Experience building developer-facing content or community for an API-first or infrastructure product
- Background in fintech, payments, billing, or other regulated infrastructure products
- Public footprint: open-source contributions, technical blog, talks, or an active developer community presence
- Experience with payment integrations, usage metering, or subscription billing
- Familiarity with documentation tooling and API reference generators (OpenAPI, etc.)
Why Join Us
- Shape the developer experience for the monetization layer of the AI economy at one of the fastest-shipping teams in fintech
- High ownership and direct impact: the docs you write and tools you build are the first thing every customer touches
- Work alongside a passionate, tight-knit team in our Bangalore office
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity Skills: building, api, developer relations, builders, docs
