Role Description Developer I - Software Engineering (POD Engineer) Position Summary UST is seeking a motivated Developer I - Software Engineering (POD Engineer) to join a high-performing engineering pod and contribute to the development of innovative, scalable, and high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong foundational software engineering skills, a learning mindset, and an interest in leveraging AI-powered tools and modern engineering practices to accelerate delivery and improve product quality. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. 1-3 years of software engineering experience in application development. Foundational experience in full-stack development, including frontend technologies, backend services, APIs, and databases. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms. Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices. Basic knowledge of cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks. Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to emerging technologies, modern engineering practices, and AI-driven development approaches. Good communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional POD environment. Commitment to continuous learning, quality, and engineering excellence. Key Responsibilities Develop, test, enhance, and maintain application features across frontend and backend components under the guidance of POD Specialists and POD Leads. Build and support APIs, services, integrations, and database components in accordance with established engineering standards and best practices. Leverage AI-assisted development tools, coding assistants, and automation capabilities to improve productivity, code quality, and development efficiency. Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to continuously improve technical skills and software quality. Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, bugs, performance issues, and production incidents in a timely manner. Contribute to unit testing, integration testing, automated testing, and quality assurance activities. Support CI/CD pipeline implementation, build management, release activities, and deployment processes. Collaborate with POD members, architects, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality customer solutions. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives. Follow engineering standards, security guidelines, coding conventions, and operational best practices. Continuously explore and adopt emerging technologies, AI-enabled engineering tools, and innovative approaches to improve delivery outcomes. Contribute to knowledge sharing, team collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering pod.
