Design Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES / WORK PROFILE

1. New Product Development & Design Engineering

• Involved in new product development projects including:
• Reverse engineering of products.
• Coordination with Quality and Production teams.
• Strong knowledge of materials, heat treatment processes, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing processes is essential.
• Guiding design team from costing , drawing development till validation of part.
• Technical communication with Supplier as well as Customer.

2. RFQ Management & Technical Costing

• Handle customer RFQs from receipt to submission.
• Conduct drawing review, technical feasibility studies, and design evaluations.
• Finding new vendors suitable for RFQ.
• Identify and coordinate with suitable suppliers/vendors.
• Perform cost analysis and support commercial discussions.
• Negotiate technical requirements with suppliers.
• Evaluate manufacturing methods, material selection, and process capabilities.
• Support new business opportunities through technical and cost optimization.

3. SAP Master Data Management

• Create and maintain Item Master data in SAP.
• Ensure accuracy of engineering and manufacturing data in SAP.

4. ISO Documentation & Compliance

• Create and maintain Design & Development documentation as per ISO requirements.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality procedures.
• Support internal and external audits related to design activities.

5. Team Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and guide a team of Design Engineers for timely execution of projects.
• Allocate work, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project timelines.
• Review design outputs, drawings, and technical documentation for accuracy and quality.
• Provide technical support, mentoring, and training to team members.
• Conduct regular design reviews and coordinate cross-functional activities with Quality, Procurement, Production, and Sales teams.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in design processes and engineering practices.
• Monitor team performance and ensure compliance with organizational standards and customer requirements.
• Participate in resource planning and workload management to achieve departmental objectives.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with Customers, Suppliers, Quality, Production, and Procurement teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide technical solutions and support for manufacturing and quality-related issues.
• Participate in design review meetings and project discussions with customers when required.

7. Supporting Sales & Marketing team to add new customers from different sectors

• Other than Glass industry , explore other industry / sectors for business growth.
• Visiting new customers as well as regular customers for technical discussion as well as to grow business.
