Design Lead - Home Textiles

Design Lead:

Design Lead to lead the development of innovative home textile products while ensuring seamless coordination between design, sourcing, and production teams. The role will be responsible for all the textile developments, designing and developing bedding and towel collections, creating tech packs, managing product aesthetics and specifications, and coordinating with sourcing and powerloom production teams to ensure timely and quality execution.

Candidate should possess strong textile design expertise, a solid understanding of weaving and powerloom manufacturing processes, and the ability to translate market trends into commercially successful products.

Key Responsibilities:

- Managing design calendar and product development timelines.

- Successful launch of new product collections.

- Timely completion of sampling and product development.

- Ensuring production readiness and design execution accuracy.

- Maintaining quality standards and minimizing production issues.

- Developing innovative, trend-driven textile products.

- Effective coordination with vendors and cross-functional teams.

- Ensuring accurate creation and implementation of tech packs.

Textile Design & Product Development:

- Assist the design heads in translating textile designs, patterns, colorways into product concepts aligned with market trends and customer requirements.

- Lead the design development and create tech packs for categories including bedding products, towels and terry products, and upholstery.

- Follow design briefs to prepare technical specifications, artwork, and production-ready documentation.

- Research market trends, consumer preferences, materials, colors, competitor products and bring innovation to be with competitive market.

Production Coordination:

- Coordinate closely with sourcing and production teams.

- Manage larger power loom products.

- Monitor fabric development from concept through sampling, approvals, and bulk production.

- Ensure designs are technically feasible and optimized for production.

- Ensure product specifications, quality standards, and timelines are met throughout production.

Sourcing & Vendor Management:

- Collaborate with sourcing teams to identify suitable yarns, fabrics, dyes, trims, craft vendors/clusters and manufacturing partners.

- Coordinate with suppliers, mills, and powerloom units for sampling and production execution.

- Evaluate supplier capabilities and support vendor development initiatives.

- Follow up on sample development, approvals, and production schedules.

Sampling & Quality Control:

- Oversee sample development and prototype creation.

- Review samples and work with Quality/Production teams to ensure design accuracy and consistency with approved standards.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination:

- Lead and mentor junior designers and product development team members.

- Ensure all departments within product development have follow tech packs effectively.

- Coordinate with merchandising, sourcing, production, quality assurance, and sales teams.

- Drive product innovation while maintaining commercial viability and manufacturing efficiency.

- Lead and execute design presentations and product development initiatives within the team.
