Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Develop high-quality 3D surface models based on industrial design concepts, sketches, scanned data, and engineering requirements.
• Create and refine complex freeform surfaces with a strong focus on surface quality, continuity, and design intent.
• Perform Class-A surfacing and ensure G0, G1, G2, and higher-order surface continuity wherever required.
• Translate styling proposals and conceptual designs into detailed 3D CAD models.
• Work on product styling, exterior and interior surfaces, part split lines, and aesthetic features.
• Ensure surface feasibility with respect to manufacturing processes, tooling, draft requirements, and part assembly.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, design engineers, tooling engineers, and cross-functional teams.
• Conduct surface quality checks, curvature analysis, zebra analysis, and deviation analysis.
• Modify and optimize surface models based on design reviews, engineering feedback, and customer requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong knowledge of industrial design principles, product aesthetics, ergonomics, and design development.
• Proficiency in 3D surfacing and advanced surface modelling techniques.
• Good understanding of NURBS surfaces, curve continuity, surface quality, and curvature control.
• Knowledge of surface analysis tools, including zebra analysis, curvature combs, reflection lines, and deviation checks.
• Ability to interpret 2D sketches, concept drawings, 3D reference data, and design specifications.
• Understanding of manufacturing feasibility, tooling constraints, draft angles, wall thickness, and parting lines.
• Experience in converting surface geometry into manufacturable CAD models.
• Good understanding of GD&T and basic engineering drawing interpretation.
