Design and Research Intern

About the Role

The Intangles Design Team, part of the Technology and Innovation Group, is hiring a Design and Research Intern for a six-month internship. You will work on live product problems alongside designers, product managers, and engineers, splitting your time between building interfaces in Figma and testing them with real users. This role suits someone who enjoys making things and also wants to find out, with evidence, whether they work. You will be mentored by senior designers, and by the end of the internship you will be expected to own small pieces of work from research through to handoff.

What you will do

• Create and maintain components with variants, properties, and variables so that designs stay consistent across web and mobile.
• Draw icons and simple vector illustrations for product interfaces.
• Run heuristic evaluations of existing screens, and document issues by severity with recommended fixes.
• Plan and run moderated and unmoderated usability tests, then synthesise findings into clear recommendations for the team.
• Work with the product team to set up A/B tests and interpret results with basic statistical care.
• Build user journey maps for fleet operators and field users to identify gaps in current workflows.
• Present your work in design reviews and carry feedback into the next iteration.
