DGM Methods | Aerospace Precision Machining

1. Position Objective

Lead the Methods Engineering and Industrialisation function for aerospace precision-machining projects, with end-to-end responsibility for converting customer requirements and engineering designs into robust, capable, cost-effective and production-ready processes.

Drive NPI, process development, CNC machining strategy, tooling, fixtures, process validation, FAI and production handover, while leading and developing the Methods Engineering team.

2. Key Accountabilities

Project Industrialisation

• Lead industrialisation of new aerospace machining projects from feasibility to production release.
• Review customer drawings, 3D models, specifications and manufacturing requirements.
• Establish manufacturing routes, process plans, milestones and resources.
• Ensure smooth transition from NPI FAI Qualification Serial Production.

Manufacturing & CNC Strategy

• Develop manufacturing strategies for complex, high-precision aerospace components.
• Lead CNC Turning, Milling and 4/5-axis machining strategies.
• Optimise machining parameters, tool paths, tool life, cycle time and setup time.
• Drive adoption of advanced machining technologies and best practices.

Tooling & Fixtures

• Lead development of precision fixtures, jigs, soft jaws and special tooling.
• Ensure accuracy, repeatability and process capability.
• Drive cutting-tool optimisation and standardisation.

Customer & Quality Interface

• Lead technical discussions with customers on manufacturability and industrialisation.
• Support DFM, process feasibility, cycle-time, tooling and cost optimisation.
• Drive PFMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan, Work Instructions and FAI/AS9102.
• Support resolution of process-related NCRs, deviations and customer issues.

Productivity & Cost Improvement

• Drive improvements in cycle time, tooling cost, setup time, rejection, productivity and capacity.
• Lead VA/VE, automation and process optimisation initiatives.

3. Leadership

• Lead and develop the Methods / Manufacturing Engineering team.
• Establish engineering standards, processes and best practices.
• Build technical capability in CNC machining, CAM, tooling and aerospace manufacturing.
• Review critical process-development decisions and ensure effective resource planning.

Must Have

• Strong experience in Aerospace Precision Machining, Methods Engineering and NPI/Industrialisation.
• Proven experience converting customer drawings/3D models into validated manufacturing processes and serial production.
• Strong exposure to CNC machining, tooling, fixtures, FAI/AS9102 and process capability.
• Proven experience leading Methods/Manufacturing Engineering teams.
• Experience with global aerospace OEMs / Tier-1 customers will be an advantage.
