Denting & Painter Technician For (UK and Ireland)

Role & responsibilities

Denting Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles/body panels to identify dents, scratches, bends, and accident damage.
• Assess the extent of body damage and determine the appropriate repair method.
• Remove dents using hammers, dollies, dent pullers, and other body-repair tools.
• Straighten and reshape damaged body panels to their original form.
• Repair or replace damaged body parts where required.
• Carry out welding and minor fabrication work when necessary.
• Ensure proper alignment of doors, bonnets, fenders, bumpers, and other body components.
• Remove rust, damaged paint, and surface imperfections before painting.
• Apply putty/filler and sand surfaces to achieve a smooth finish.

Painting Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming.
• Mix paints, thinners, hardeners, and other materials according to required specifications.
• Match paint colors accurately with the existing vehicle/body color.
• Apply primer, base coat, and finishing coat using spray guns or other appropriate equipment.
• Ensure uniform paint thickness, color, and gloss.
• Perform spot painting and complete panel painting as required.
• Polish and buff painted surfaces to achieve the required finish.
• Identify and rectify defects such as runs, orange peel, bubbles, uneven coating, and color mismatch.

Tools & Equipment

• Operate spray guns, compressors, sanders, grinders, dent pullers, welding equipment, and polishing machines.
• Maintain and clean painting and denting equipment after use.
• Ensure tools and equipment are stored safely and remain in good working condition

Key Skills: Dent repair, panel beating, surface preparation, spray painting, color matching, putty/filler application, sanding, polishing, welding, paint mixing, and knowledge of automotive/body-shop safety
