About this role
- Database Administration & Operations
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch IBM DB2 databases as per customer standards
- Manage DB2 instances, databases, tablespaces, schemas, and objects
- Monitor database health, availability, and performance on a daily basis
- Ensure high availability and stability of DB2 environments (Prod / Non-Prod)
- Performance Monitoring & Tuning
- Monitor DB2 performance metrics (CPU, memory, I/O, locking, waits)
- Perform SQL tuning and query optimization
- Analyze slow queries, deadlocks, and resource bottlenecks
- Proactively recommend performance improvements to customer SPOC
- Backup, Recovery & DR Support
- Configure and monitor DB2 backup jobs (online/offline)
- Perform database restore and recovery during incidents
- Support Disaster Recovery (DR) drills and actual failover activities
- Validate backup integrity and recovery readiness
- Manage DB2 user access, roles, and privileges
- Implement security policies as per customer compliance requirements
- Perform regular user access reviews and audits
- Coordinate with security teams for vulnerability remediation
- Monitor DB2 alerts and system logs proactively
- Prepare daily / weekly / monthly DB2 health and availability reports
- Maintain DB2 documentation, SOPs, and runbooks
- Provide updates and reports to customer SPOC and service managers
