Database Developer

Roles and Responsibilities :

• Strong experience in database architecture, design, development, scripting, and migration. Expertise in designing large-scale SQL and NoSQL database solutions, including AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon DynamoDB. 
•  Hands-on experience migrating databases from Oracle and/or IBM Db2 to AWS Aurora PostgreSQL. Ability to review SQL queries, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement query and database optimizations.
• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain large-scale databases using Aurora DB on AWS cloud platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and design scalable data solutions.
• Develop complex SQL queries to optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Ensure high availability, security, and compliance of the database systems.

Job Requirements :

• 10-18 years of experience in database development with expertise in PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) is an added advantage.
• Strong organizational, project planning, and time-management skills. 
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  
• Proficiency in working with AWS services such as RDS, Lambda functions, S3 buckets etc.
  
  

  Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role

  1. Own the overall database architecture for the migration and modernization program, from current-state assessment through target-state implementation.

  2. Collaborate with the customer to define a multi-year database modernization roadmap, including architecture priorities, innovation opportunities, dependencies, effort estimates, and delivery milestones.

  3. Define and integrate a scalable architecture that supports applications, platforms, data services, and evolving business requirements.

  4. Determine structural and operational database requirements, and lead the design, implementation, upgrade, and maintenance of database solutions.

  5. Lead migration planning and execution from Oracle and IBM Db2 to AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, while maintaining data integrity and minimizing delivery risks.

  6. Design and govern SQL/NoSQL solutions using AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon DynamoDB, aligned with performance, scalability, availability, and security requirements.

  7. Establish standards for query review, performance tuning, heterogeneous data synchronization, schema versioning, and database CI/CD using Liquibase.

  8. Ensure appropriate controls are incorporated to protect information, database platforms, systems, and digital data.

  9. Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to engineering teams.

  10. Identify architecture, migration, security, quality, and delivery risks; define mitigation actions and track them with relevant stakeholders.
