About this role
Role Overview
As a Database Architect, you will serve as the primary technical authority for the design, implementation, and optimization of our core data platforms. You will work closely with engineering leadership, product managers, and infrastructure teams to translate complex business requirements into high-performing database solutions. Your work will directly influence the reliability and efficiency of our systems, ensuring that our data architecture can handle massive throughput while maintaining strict integrity standards. This role is pivotal in shaping our long-term data strategy and mentoring junior engineers to maintain a high bar for technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities - Design and implement highly scalable database architectures using Couchbase to support high-concurrency applications and ensure low-latency data access.
- Lead the end-to-end database design process, including schema modeling, indexing strategies, and partitioning, to optimize performance for large-scale enterprise workloads.
- Oversee comprehensive database administration tasks, including capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery, to ensure 99.99% system availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to troubleshoot complex data bottlenecks and implement automated solutions that streamline deployment pipelines.
- Establish and enforce best practices for data security, compliance, and governance across all production and staging environments to protect sensitive information.
- Mentor engineering teams on advanced database concepts and emerging technologies to foster a culture of continuous learning and technical growth.
- Demonstrated expertise in architecting and managing NoSQL solutions, with a deep specialization in Couchbase and its integration within distributed systems.
- Proven ability to design complex database schemas and optimize query performance in high-traffic, mission-critical environments.
- Strong proficiency in database administration, including proactive monitoring, backup/recovery strategies, and infrastructure automation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and influence architectural decisions.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment in Bangalore, working effectively with both local and distributed teams.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, combined with 6 to 15 years of hands-on experience in database architecture and engineering.
