Database Administrator (PostgreSQL & MS SQL)

Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech (Computer Science, Information Science, or related field)

Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server. This is a development-focused DBA role responsible for database performance optimization, schema design, query tuning, stored procedure development, database maintenance, and governance. The candidate will work closely with development teams to deliver scalable and high-performance database solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform database maintenance activities including indexing, vacuuming, statistics updates, and data purging.
• Monitor database health, identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize slow-running queries.
• Design, develop, and maintain stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
• Review database schemas, queries, and code changes to ensure performance and scalability.
• Define and enforce database development standards, indexing strategies, and best practices.
• Configure and monitor database jobs, alerts, and automated maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with development teams on database design, enhancements, and performance improvements.
• Support database troubleshooting and contribute to data architecture decisions.
• Explore automation and AI-driven tools to improve database administration and optimization processes.

Required Skills

• 6–8 years of hands-on DBA experience with PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server.
• Strong expertise in query optimization, execution plans, indexing, transactions, locking, and concurrency.
• Experience with stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and schema design.
• Hands-on experience in database maintenance, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and high availability concepts.
• Strong understanding of application-database interactions and database development best practices. Nice to Have
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or Cassandra.
• Exposure to cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
• Experience using AI/LLM tools for database optimization and administration.
• Knowledge of graph or vector databases.
