Database Administrator -MSSQL

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled

Senior Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in

Azure SQL and cloud database services . The ideal candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of both on-premise and cloud-based SQL Server environments. You will play a key role in

migrating databases to Azure ,

optimizing performance , and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and support

SQL Server 2016–2022 and

Azure SQL Database environments.

• Design and implement

high availability ,

disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategies using AlwaysOn, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Azure-native solutions.

• Plan and execute

SQL Server migrations to Azure , including assessments, testing, and validation.

• Monitor and optimize system performance using SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs, and Azure Monitor.
• Implement and maintain

security policies , including role-based access, encryption, auditing, and compliance with data governance standards.

• Automate routine tasks using

PowerShell ,

T-SQL , and

Azure Automation .

• Manage backup strategies using native tools and third-party solutions in both on-premise and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Application, and Infrastructure teams to deliver efficient database solutions.
• Provide

24/7 support for production databases on a rotation basis, including performance tuning and incident resolution.

• Document database architecture, procedures, and environment changes.

Qualifications: Required:

• 3+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with

Azure SQL ,

Managed Instances , or

SQL Database on Azure VMs .

• Strong understanding of T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and indexing strategies.
• Experience with

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) ,

Integration Services (SSIS) , or

Azure Data Factory (ADF) .

• Deep understanding of

SQL Server internals and

performance tuning techniques .

• Experience with

monitoring tools such as Redgate, SolarWinds, or native Azure monitoring.

• Proficiency in

PowerShell scripting and

automation for database maintenance.

• Knowledge of

ITIL practices and

change management .
