Data Science Engineer

DATA SCIENCE ENGINEER / AI MODELLING

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on Data & AI professional to build intelligent business applications using company data, language models and automation.

You will design and implement an internal AI platform connecting ERP, CRM, HRMS and company documents. Initial applications will support sales analysis, management reporting, knowledge search and employee productivity, with the potential to develop customer-facing products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assess business requirements and translate them into practical AI solutions and a phased implementation roadmap.
  • Build reliable data pipelines connecting Microsoft Dynamics ERP, Zoho CRM, HRMS and other sources through APIs or approved data exports.
  • Clean, structure and validate historical sales, financial, customer and operational data.
  • Develop RAG applications that retrieve company information and produce answers with source references.
  • Select and integrate suitable LLMs and smaller language models, considering accuracy, privacy, performance and cost.
  • Build forecasting, analytics and reporting solutions for business teams.
  • Develop secure APIs and deploy AI applications with monitoring, testing and documentation.
  • Implement access controls so employees can retrieve only information they are authorised to view  

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Data engineering
• Strong Python and SQL.
• Experience with relational databases, data modelling and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Integration experience using REST APIs, JSON and business-system data.
• Data cleansing, quality checks and handling inconsistent or incomplete records.

AI and data science
• Practical experience building LLM applications.
• Understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector search, document processing and prompt design.
• Ability to evaluate AI outputs using representative test questions and business data.
• Working knowledge of statistics, forecasting and machine-learning evaluation.
• Understanding of when to use RAG, conventional analytics or model fine-tuning.

Software engineering and architecture
• Experience building backend services and APIs.
• Ability to design secure, maintainable systems and explain architectural trade-offs.
• Experience with Git, Docker, cloud deployment and automated delivery.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring, secrets management and role-based access.
• Ability to manage application costs, latency and reliability.

Business and communication
• Ability to understand business processes and convert them into technical requirements.
• Clear communication with management and nontechnical users.
• Strong ownership, documentation and problem-solving skills.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE (Minimum 3-4 years in a professional organisation in a full time role ) 

• Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Dynamics integrations.
  • Zoho CRM or HRMS integrations.
  • A vector database or search platform, such as pgvector, Qdrant or an equivalent.
  • An LLM application framework, such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
  • Open-source model deployment, smaller language models or model fine-tuning.
  • Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Experience in IT services, systems integration, sales operations or financial analytics.
  • Building reusable software products for multiple customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Demonstrated delivery and a strong portfolio will receive significant consideration.

EXPECTED INITIAL DELIVERABLES

• An assessment of available data, integration options and priority use cases.
  • A proposed architecture, implementation roadmap and operating-cost estimate.
  • A working pilot for a selected business use case.
  • Evaluation results covering accuracy, security, usability and business value.
  • A production rollout plan with documentation and knowledge transfer.
