Job description
Job Summary:**
Hitachi, Ltd. is seeking a Data Ops Lead to spearhead the operationalization, maintenance, and continuous improvement of data pipelines and infrastructure. This role will ensure data quality, reliability, and accessibility across various business functions, driving data-driven decision-making.
Job Responsibilities:**
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of robust and scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing solutions.
- Implement and enforce best practices for data governance, data quality, data security, and data privacy.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and failures promptly.
- Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for data infrastructure, processes, and data models.
- Automate operational tasks and processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Manage and optimize cloud-based data platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Implement and manage data observability tools and practices to ensure data reliability and consistency.
- Mentor and guide junior data operations engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Stay abreast of emerging data technologies and trends, evaluating and recommending their adoption where appropriate.
Job Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data operations, or a similar role, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven expertise in designing, building, and managing complex data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with various database technologies (e.g., relational, NoSQL).
- Extensive experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their relevant services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, Data Factory).
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and schema design.
- Experience with data quality frameworks, data governance principles, and data observability tools.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala) for data manipulation and automation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with Apache Airflow, dbt, or similar orchestration tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for data solutions is highly desirable.
