As our project volume continues to grow across Commercial, OTT, Feature Film, and international content, we are looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Data Operator to join our post-production operations team.
Role Overview The Data Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the secure, accurate, and efficient movement of media throughout the post-production pipeline. From ingesting camera originals to managing project archives and final deliveries, this position is responsible for maintaining data integrity across all Color Grading, DI, and CG-VFX workflows. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically sound, and experienced in handling large-scale media assets while working in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities Data Ingest & Verification • Receive and ingest camera media, audio, graphics, and project assets from clients and production teams. • Perform checksum-based data verification to ensure accurate and secure transfers. • Maintain proper folder structures and project organization standards. • Generate and manage backup copies according to studio data policies.
Media & Storage Management • Manage project storage across servers, NAS, SAN, and archival systems. • Monitor storage utilization and ensure availability of resources for ongoing projects. • Organize media assets for Color Grading, Online, VFX, and Delivery teams. • Maintain project archives and retrieval records.
Workflow Coordination • Prepare media and project assets for internal departments and external vendors. • Coordinate with Producers, Colorists, VFX Supervisors, and Artists to ensure smooth data flow throughout the pipeline. • Track incoming and outgoing deliveries, ensuring deadlines are met. • Support conform, grading, VFX, and mastering workflows through proper media preparation.
Delivery & Quality Control • Prepare final deliverables for broadcast, digital, theatrical, OTT, and social media platforms. • Verify technical specifications, file formats, frame rates, resolutions, and naming conventions. • Conduct data-level QC checks before client deliveries. • Manage secure client uploads, downloads, and data transfers.
What We're Looking For • 3–5 years of experience as a Data Operator, DIT, Media Manager, or similar role within a post-production environment. • Strong understanding of post-production workflows for commercials, feature films, OTT content, and episodic projects. • Experience handling high-volume media and large-scale storage systems. • Familiarity with industry-standard file formats, codecs, color pipelines, and delivery specifications. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Technical Skills • Experience with data transfer and verification tools such as ShotPut Pro, Hedge, YoYotta, or similar software. • Working knowledge of macOS, Windows, and Linux-based environments. • Understanding of RAID storage, NAS/SAN infrastructure, LTO archival workflows, and cloud-based transfers. • Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve workflows and post-production media management. • Knowledge of FTP, Aspera, Signiant, MASV, Frame.io, and secure file delivery platforms is advantageous.
Nice to Have • Previous experience in a DI, Color Grading, or CG-VFX facility. • Understanding of ACES, HDR, and contemporary color management workflows. • Experience managing deliveries for major broadcast networks and OTT platforms. • Exposure to project tracking tools such as ShotGrid or similar production management systems.
