Data Mobility Solutions Architect

Role Purpose

• The Advanced Data Mobility Solutions Architect delivers complex data mobility and migration solutions by applying deep technical expertise and sound judgment. This role operates independently on complex assignments, contributes to solution design, and adapts established methodologies to meet diverse customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Solution Design & Execution

• Designs and implements data mobility and migration solutions across file, block, and object environments
• Applies established architectural principles to develop effective, scalable solutions
• Adapts existing methodologies to address unique customer requirements

1. Problem Solving & Technical Judgment

• Analyzes complex customer environments and data sets to determine appropriate migration strategies
• Selects and adapts tools, methods, and techniques to deliver successful outcomes
• Resolves technical challenges using creative and effective approaches

1. Pre-Sales Contribution

• Supports solution development by assessing customer requirements and contributing to architecture design
• Assists in technical validation, effort scoping, and proposal inputs
• Communicates solutions effectively to technical stakeholders

1. Delivery Execution

• Executes migration plans, including discovery, planning, and cutover activities
• Develops and maintains technical documentation such as runbooks and architecture diagrams
• Ensures work aligns with defined standards and delivery expectations

1. Collaboration & Influence

• Collaborates with cross-functional teams including sales, delivery, and engineering
• Builds relationships outside immediate team to support solution alignment
• Advises peers on complex technical matters and shares best practices

Technical Qualifications

1. Core Migration Capability

• Hands-on experience in at least one primary migration domain such as file, block, or object
• Demonstrated ability to execute migrations using established tools and methodologies
• Familiarity with end-to-end migration lifecycle including discovery, planning, execution, and validation

2. Unstructured Data & NAS Fundamentals

• Working knowledge of NFS and SMB protocols and file system behaviors
• Experience supporting or executing file-based migrations in enterprise environments
• Understanding of file permissions, ACLs, and basic multiprotocol access concepts

Infrastructure & Platform Knowledge

• Solid understanding of storage, networking, and compute environments
• Familiarity with virtualization and basic cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Ability to operate within defined architectures across on-prem and cloud environments

Migration Tools & Execution

• Experience using migration tools and utilities for data transfer and validation
• Ability to follow defined processes for discovery, migration, and cutover
• Basic scripting or automation exposure is a plus but not required

Systems & Operating Environments

• Working experience with Windows and/or Linux/Unix systems
• Understanding of NFS, SMB/CIFS protocols and basic system administration tasks
• Familiarity with file system security and directory services concepts

Architecture & Documentation

• Ability to contribute to solution design with guidance
• Creates and maintains technical documentation such as runbooks and diagrams
• Understands standard architecture patterns and applies them appropriately
