Data Intern - Field Data Science

Job Summary

An internship that is not a desk. You will spend it where the sensors are, cleaning the data you helped collect and watching what happens when a model meets a real herd.

Responsibilities

• Accompany field engineers on deployments and calibration visits, and take the notes nobody else has time to take
• Clean, label and organise sensor telemetry - temperature, rumination, activity and environmental records
• Help build and validate the baseline datasets new deployments are measured against
• Test model outputs against what the farmer and the veterinarian actually observed
• Write up what did not work, honestly, so the next deployment is better

Requirements

• Studying or recently graduated in data science, statistics, agricultural engineering, computer science or veterinary science
• Comfortable with Python or R and with messy real-world data
• Willing to travel to rural districts and work in field conditions
• One regional language alongside English
• Loves to see farmers succeed, understands their pain points, and can explain a recommendation in words a farmer uses
