Data Governance Lead

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Lead to establish and drive the enterprise-wide Data Governance program using Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI. The role will focus on implementing governance frameworks, metadata management, data cataloging, business glossary management, data quality, lineage, and compliance initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and manage the enterprise Data Governance framework and operating model.
• Lead Data Ownership and Stewardship programs across business domains.
• Manage Business Glossary, Data Catalog, Metadata, and Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
• Administer and govern Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI environments.
• Define data quality, classification, lineage, and governance standards.
• Drive onboarding of data sources including Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Data Lakes, Fabric, and Power BI assets.
• Develop governance dashboards, KPIs, reports, and automation workflows.
• Collaborate with Business, Technology, Security, Compliance, and Analytics teams.
• Support regulatory compliance, privacy, and audit readiness initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Data Governance: Data Governance Frameworks & DAMA Principles, Data Stewardship & Ownership Models, Business Glossary & Data Catalog Management, Metadata, Lineage & Data Quality Governance, Data Classification & Governance Operating Models.
• Microsoft Technologies: Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric Governance, Power BI, Azure Fundamentals, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, Microsoft Entra ID.
• Technical & Automation Skills: SQL & PostgreSQL, Python & PowerShell, REST APIs & JSON, Power Automate & Logic Apps.

Preferred Experience

• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview implementation and administration.
• Strong stakeholder management and governance program leadership experience.
• Experience in regulated industries such as Financial Services or Insurance is a plus.
