In the post-pandemic world, travel insurance is more important than ever. We are committed to delivering an exceptional service for our customers and we want you to be part of that journey.
So, what’s the job?
- You'll design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes that support analytics, reporting, and machine learning workloads.
- You'll own the day-to-day reliability of data ingestion processes, proactively troubleshooting pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and data anomalies.
- You'll refactor and modernise existing ETL processes to improve efficiency, standardisation, and scalability.
- You'll reduce manual data movement through automation and the implementation of consistent engineering best practices.
- You'll support schema changes, incremental data loads, and the onboarding of new data sources and elements.
- You'll develop and optimise data models and data warehouse structures to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- You'll assist with database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and schema management activities.
- You'll deliver well-structured, production-ready datasets that enable analytics and data science teams to generate meaningful insights.
- You'll collaborate with engineering and analytics teams across multiple geographies to integrate data from diverse sources while ensuring consistent data quality standards.
- You'll write and optimise SQL queries to validate data completeness, accuracy, and integrity.
- You'll reconcile ETL outputs against source system reports, identifying and resolving data quality issues where required.
- You'll manage API-based integrations, including handling pagination, rate limiting, and incremental data extraction processes.
- You'll work closely with cross-functional stakeholders across time zones to understand business data requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- You'll actively participate in asynchronous workflows and virtual collaboration environments to maintain alignment across distributed teams.
- You'll communicate project progress, risks, blockers, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You'll implement monitoring, logging, and automation solutions to improve pipeline stability and minimise manual intervention.
- You'll create and maintain runbooks, ETL documentation, and process guides to support operational excellence and knowledge sharing.
- You'll follow and reinforce engineering standards covering naming conventions, development structures, and deployment practices.
- You'll support change management processes, version control, and controlled releases to ensure reliable and secure deployments.
And what are we looking for?
- You'll bring a Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- You'll have 2+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, ETL development, or a related technical role.
- You'll demonstrate experience working within offshore, distributed, or globally dispersed teams, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple time zones.
- You'll possess a solid understanding of ETL concepts, data integration principles, and data pipeline architecture.
- You'll have hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) or a comparable ETL and data orchestration platform.
- You'll be experienced in working with REST APIs, including interpreting documentation, handling JSON payloads, and managing authentication methods such as API keys, OAuth, and tokens.
- You'll have strong SQL and Python skills, including expertise in joins, aggregations, filtering, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.
- You'll bring familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.
- You'll have experience using source code management and version control tools such as Git.
- You'll have knowledge of Vincilium or similar ETL tools.
- You'll bring exposure to Power BI datasets and backend reporting models that support business intelligence solutions.
- You'll have experience working with file-based integrations, including CSV, Excel, and SFTP-based data transfers.
- You'll demonstrate familiarity with insurance platforms and/or ERP and CRM systems.
- You'll be highly detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to data accuracy, quality, and reliability.
- You'll be a proactive and self-managing communicator who keeps remote stakeholders informed, engaged, and aligned.
- You'll be comfortable working independently across multiple time zones with minimal day-to-day supervision.
- You'll be collaborative and team-oriented, recognising that successful data engineering outcomes are achieved through strong cross-functional partnerships regardless of location.
- You'll be eager to learn, grow, and take on increasing levels of ownership as the platform and team continue to evolve.
- You'll have the opportunity to progress into more senior data engineering or platform architecture roles, taking greater ownership of ingestion architecture, driving standardisation across new data sources, and contributing to the growth and maturity of the wider data platform.
