Job Description: Data Consumer Analyst (Data Lineage & Migration)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Consumer Analyst to support a strategic migration from an on-premises data warehouse to a modern AWS S3-based cloud data platform. In this role, you will be responsible for discovering, documenting, and analyzing all data consumers, dependencies, reports, applications, and business processes that rely on the existing data ecosystem.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, BI teams, data engineers, architects, and application owners to ensure a seamless migration with minimal business disruption.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and inventory all consumers of enterprise data, including reports, dashboards, applications, interfaces, data feeds, and business teams.
• Perform end-to-end data lineage analysis and document data flow from source systems through transformations to consumption layers.
• Analyze database objects, ETL processes, reporting assets, and downstream dependencies to understand migration impacts.
• Review query logs, access patterns, and usage metrics to distinguish active data assets from obsolete or redundant ones.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to validate data dependencies and usage requirements.
• Create and maintain detailed dependency maps, consumer catalogs, migration inventories, and risk assessments.
• Support migration planning by identifying critical business processes and potential risks prior to cutover.
• Develop automation scripts and tools to accelerate data discovery, lineage tracking, and dependency analysis.
• Assist engineering teams in prioritizing migration waves based on business criticality and complexity.
• Ensure accurate documentation and knowledge transfer throughout the migration lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Warehousing, Data Analytics, Data Governance, or Data Migration projects.
• Strong understanding of Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, ETL/ELT processes, and enterprise data architecture.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience analyzing complex datasets, queries, and database dependencies.
• Experience working with both Relational Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on programming experience in Python for automation, scripting, and data analysis.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, with exposure to Amazon S3.
• Experience performing impact analysis, dependency mapping, and data lineage documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact across technical and business teams.
• Proven experience supporting large-scale data migration or modernization initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Data Governance and Metadata Management tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica EDC, Apache Atlas, or AWS Glue Data Catalog.
• Hands-on experience with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Knowledge of AWS data services and cloud-native analytics platforms.
• Experience building automation solutions, AI agents, or intelligent workflow tools.
• AWS Certifications such as:
