Data Center Sales Manager For Power Generation Industry

Role Objective:

We are looking for a hands-on sales professional with strong experience in the Data Center segment and large Diesel Genset / Power Generation business.

The candidate should have direct working relationships with Data Center customers, consultants, EPC contractors, and MEP consultants and should be capable of independently developing and converting large power-generation opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage business opportunities for large DG sets / standby power solutions for Data Centers.
• Manage relationships with Data Center developers, operators, hyperscalers, colocation customers and key accounts.
• Maintain strong engagement with Data Center consultants, MEP consultants, EPC contractors, and project management companies.
• Identify projects at an early/specification stage and work with consultants/customers for product positioning and technical specifications.
• Handle RFQs/tenders, techno-commercial offers, negotiations, and order closure.
• Coordinate internally with the Application Engineering, Projects, Product Support, and Commercial teams to deliver complete customer solutions.
• Track upcoming Data Center projects and maintain a strong opportunity pipeline.
• Develop relationships with key decision-makers across the Data Center ecosystem.

Candidate Profile:

• 12 to 15 years of relevant sales/business development experience, preferably with at least 45 years in the Data Center segment.
• Strong background in Diesel Gensets / Power Generation, preferably large DG sets in the 1250 to 3000 kVA range.
• Existing relationships with major Data Center customers and consultants.
• Good understanding of Data Center standby-power requirements, redundancy philosophy, synchronization and associated electrical/BoP systems.
• Strong techno-commercial, negotiation and key-account management skills.
• Should be a hands-on business development person, capable of independently approaching customers and developing new accounts.
• Engineering qualification preferred.

Preferred Background:

Candidates currently/recently working in the DG set/engine-based power-generation industry and directly handling Data Center customers will be preferred.

Important Selection Criteria:

The candidate should be able to demonstrate:

1. Data Center customers personally handled during the last 35 years.

2. Major DG/Data Center projects personally developed or converted.

3. Existing relationships with Data Center consultants/EPCs.

4. Size and value of DG projects handled.

5. Current opportunity/customer network in the Indian Data Center market.
