D365 F&O Project Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead end-to-end implementation, upgrade, and support projects for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of managing complex ERP programs, leading cross-functional teams, and driving projects from discovery through go-live and hypercare, while ensuring alignment with business objectives, budget, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle for D365 F&O implementations, upgrades, and rollouts including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure — using Microsoft Sure Step, Agile, or hybrid methodologies.
• Own project scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, and risk/issue management, proactively identifying and mitigating project risks.
• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, functional/technical consultants, and executive sponsors, ensuring clear communication and expectation management throughout the engagement.
• Manage cross-functional teams including functional consultants (Finance, SCM, Manufacturing, Retail), technical developers, solution architects, and QA/testers.
• Drive requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, and solution design workshops in collaboration with functional leads.
• Oversee data migration, integration, testing (SIT/UAT), cutover planning, and go-live activities.
• Manage multiple concurrent workstreams across geographies for global/multi-entity rollouts.
• Track project financials (budget vs. actuals), prepare status reports, dashboards, and steering committee presentations.
• Ensure adherence to change management, governance, and compliance requirements throughout the project.
• Support pre-sales activities such as scoping, estimation, and proposal development when required.
• Mentor and guide junior project managers and coordinators within the PMO.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8–12+ years of overall IT project management experience, with a minimum of 5 years specifically managing Dynamics 365 F&O (or Dynamics AX) implementation projects.
• Proven experience delivering at least 2–3 full-cycle D365 F&O implementations (greenfield or upgrade).
• Strong understanding of D365 F&O modules (Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, or Retail) and Microsoft's Success by Design / Business Process Catalogue framework.
• Solid grounding in project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, Microsoft Sure Step).
• Experience managing budgets, resource allocation, and vendor/stakeholder relationships.
• Strong risk management, escalation handling, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills, comfortable engaging with C-level stakeholders.
• Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, JIRA, or Smartsheet.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• PMP, PRINCE2, or Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Project Manager / Solution Architect certification.
• Experience in Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert path.
• Exposure to Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate) and Azure DevOps for ALM.
• Industry-specific experience (Manufacturing, Retail, Distribution, or Public Sector).
• Experience managing global/multi-country rollouts with multiple currencies, legal entities, and localization requirements.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).
