CSSD Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Department Operations

• Ensure smooth functioning of CSSD services on a daily basis.
• Supervise cleaning, disinfection, packing, sterilization, storage, and distribution of instruments and supplies.
• Ensure uninterrupted supply of sterile items to OT, ICU, wards, OPD, emergency, and other departments.

2. Sterilization Management

• Monitor sterilization processes including:
• Steam sterilization (Autoclave)
• ETO sterilization
• Low-temperature sterilization methods
• Ensure proper operation and validation of sterilization equipment.
• Monitor biological, chemical, and mechanical indicators.

3. Infection Control Compliance

• Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control practices.
• Coordinate with Infection Control Committee and Nursing departments.
• Implement aseptic handling procedures.

4. NABH & Quality Compliance

• Ensure compliance with NABH standards and hospital policies.
• Maintain CSSD SOPs, logs, records, and quality documentation.
• Participate in internal audits and quality improvement activities.

5. Inventory & Material Management

• Monitor inventory of sterile packs, consumables, linen, and instruments.
• Ensure proper storage and stock rotation.
• Coordinate with purchase and stores department for required materials.

6. Equipment Maintenance

• Ensure proper functioning and preventive maintenance of:
• Autoclaves
• ETO machines
• Washer disinfectors
• Sealing machines
• Coordinate with biomedical engineering department for repairs and AMC schedules.

7. Documentation & Record Keeping

• Maintain sterilization records and traceability logs.
• Maintain equipment maintenance records.
• Ensure proper documentation of biological and chemical indicator reports.

8. Staff Management

• Supervise CSSD technicians and support staff.
• Prepare duty rosters and allocate work responsibilities.
• Conduct staff training on sterilization and infection control practices.

9. Coordination with Departments

• Coordinate with OT, ICU, wards, nursing, biomedical, and infection control departments.
• Resolve issues related to sterile supplies and instrument availability.

10. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to biomedical waste management guidelines.
• Ensure staff safety practices and use of PPE.
• Report incidents, breakdowns, or process failures immediately.
