Costing Officer

Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Costing

• Prepare and maintain standard costs for raw materials, labour, and overheads.
• Analyse manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Monitor production variances and investigate material, labour, and overhead deviations.
• Collaborate with production, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate cost allocation.
• Support new product costing, feasibility studies, and pricing decisions.

Cost Accounting & Analysis

• Perform monthly cost closing activities and prepare cost reports.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for budget vs. actual performance.
• Monitor inventory valuation, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods costing.
• Ensure accurate allocation of manufacturing overheads and absorption rates.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
• Support internal and external audits related to costing and inventory.

SAP Management

• Manage and maintain costing-related master data in SAP.
• Execute and monitor SAP costing runs, standard cost updates, and variance analysis.
• Generate and analyse SAP reports for inventory, production, and cost management.
• Work closely with IT and business teams to improve SAP costing processes and reporting.
• Ensure data integrity and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Qualifications:

• CMA (ICWA) / CMA-Inter or equivalent.
• 7-10 years of experience in costing and finance within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience with SAP (preferably SAP CO, FI, MM, and PP modules).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
